Match Report 27/11/18

Penrith B Takes 2nd Victory in a Row!

When you’re waiting for a bus and then two come along at the same time just reflects Penrith B’s victory over Dalton.

After a long barren spell of no victories for over 2 years Penrith B took their 2nd victory is as many weeks with a fine victory over a strong Dalton team.

Even though Chris Lilley was missing from the team sheet (his regular trips to Portugal may be curtailed by Brexit!), Penrith fielded a strong team with Mark Rhodes re-joining the squad from his period playing for the 1st team.

First up were Neil Coward and Richard Utting playing at 4 and3 respectively.

Both put in strong performances to win their games 3-2 and 3-1 against their respective opponents Andy Thompson and Marissa Herrington.

Alex McIntosh and Mark Rhodes then took the courts against their respective opponents Tom Simpson and Stuart Breen.

Alex, who had previously played for Dalton, hadn’t beaten his opponent on the previous 4 occasions but on this occasion he left no stone unturned emphatically taking the match 3-0.

At this point the tie was won but Mark Rhodes made no mistakes by taking his tie by the same margin.

A satisfactory two weeks for Penrith B and with Kendal C coming up next week hopes are high for another victory.
