Penrith B end the season on a high
Penrith ‘B’ travelled to Kendal ‘B’ with a full strength team and came away with an unlikely but well deserved victory against a team 2nd in the 2nd Division of the Cumbria League.
There were some outstanding performances by all the team players with Chris Lilley winning at 3 (3-2) and Mark Rhodes winning at 1 by a handsome margin of 3-0 and against an opponent he has generally struggled to beat in previous encounters.
As matches won were equal at the end of the meeting victory was clinched by point count back. The points won by Richard Utting playing at 4 (2-3) and Alex McIntosh playing at 2 (1-3) turned out to be crucial with Penrith ‘B’ winning by 9 points to 8.
It was a fine performance all round showing that Penrith ‘B’ can be a force to be reckoned when it can put its full strength team out. Unfortunately all too often this season it has been unable to do so but it has achieved a position in the league which could not have be dreamed off over the past 2 seasons.
