Club update and 'squash bubbles'

As some members may already be aware from 1st September squash clubs can now allow players to form squash bubbles and play full court matches subject to modifications and additional hygiene measures.

These squash bubbles consist of a maximum of six players from different households and those players are permitted to play full court matches with enhanced hygiene protocols.

The committee have agreed to offer this facility on the following basis:

·         If you wish to form a ‘bubble’ details of the players involved should be passed to Richard Utting (Covid-19 Officer’) by email to richardutting54@gmail.com before any play commences.

·         A list will be maintained to ensure that players are only part of one bubble at a time (players cannot play across multiple bubbles)

·         With regard to minors, Richard will require express permission from the parent/guardian before they can join a bubble.

·         Richard will require written agreement from players confirming that they will follow the England Squash bubble guidance (see https://www.englandsquash.com/back-to-squash/guidance-for-players)

·         If a player wishes to switch bubbles they must take a 7-day break from playing the full version of the game before joining a different bubble. ‘Sides’ or socially distanced practices can be played during this 7- day break.

Once a squash bubble has been arranged and you are ready to play Richard will require each player’s written agreement confirming that they will follow the England Squash bubble guidance (this can be in the form of an email). Following this, further detail of how the bubble should operate will be sent and the additional hygiene measures required.

However you can look at these beforehand by referring to England Squash website www.englandsquash.com/covid-19 or follow this link https://www.englandsquash.com/back-to-squash/guidance-for-players.

For those of you do not wish to form a squash bubble at this time there are many great ways to play including ‘Sides’ and many socially distanced practices. Many members have already experienced these and not only enjoyed them but more importantly enjoyed the experience of just being back on court.

We have also relaxed the condition concerning the member’s only rule. Members can now invite guests but they must be from the same social bubble i.e. same household. Guests must be signed in and the guest fee paid. However squash bubbles as referred to above can only be made up of members of the club.

Richard Utting looks forward to hearing from you but if you do have any other queries concerning the above please let him know.
