Penrith Squash & Racketball to reopen!
Great news for those wishing to get back onto the squash court!
Penrith Squash & Racketball Club has now been given the go ahead by their governing body England Squash to open up from 12th April after being closed for over 3 months.
Although in the first instance squash activities will be restricted to solo practicing, same households and junior club it is hoped that in the fullness of time all members of the club will be able to get back on court from Monday 19th May, albeit with some level of restrictions.
The Club is also planning to re-start its very successful junior Club on Friday 23rd April.
Details of the restart will be posted on the club website and via social media but attendees will need to pre-book with Neil Coward.
Planning is also well ahead in regard to a number of initiatives to welcome back members and attract new members, especially females and juniors.
Club Chair Chris Lilley said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming our members back to Penrith Squash & Racketball. It seems such a long time ago since we last played, especially at this time of year when court usage is normally at its highest, so we cannot wait to get back on court. Our membership was increasing nicely before lockdown 1, and even later last year we were still receiving quite a number of new member’s applications which demonstrates that there is an underlying demand for this great sport.
We have also recruited four new coaches to help us promote squash in general, but specifically for females and juniors. Eventually we will resume squash & racketball club nights, along with a Ladies-only club night.”
We look forward to welcoming all our members as well as those who may wish to join. If you are interested in joining Penrith’s only Squash & Racketball Club contact Chris Lilley on 07740 933 989.
